It’s that time of the month again. I remember feeling very awkward when my menstrual cycle began. It is so natural yet it’s disruptive, often causing abdominal pain, headaches, boob discomfort etc. You probably can relate to withdrawing from activities or just feeling very self-conscious and uncomfortable. Dealing with our hormonal changes, periods and emotions are part of life but it doesn’t always play out the way it should.
Listening to a parent express a deep concern for their daughter really got me thinking… thinking about life’s challenges and how we cope. Some call it ‘secret women’s business’… we’re all affected by the monthly cycle and have probably provided tender care to a friend or daughter more than once.
Being a woman is such a blessing. Our monthly cycle is the circle of life, the miracle to create and bring a new soul into the world. How we’re connected to the universe and our ability to reproduce is powerful. However, when we suffer with our period (or whatever other names you give it) with heavy bleeding, cramps, mood swings or any discomfort we disconnect and can become resentful.
Some even dread ‘that time of the month’... often avoiding activities and events and even missing classes or going to work like normal.
Mood swings were my constant… I wonder what it will be like for my daughter.
How do you feel about being responsible for your daughter/s or other young females and nurturing them through life’s transitions? Major transitions like from school to college, or from university to a new job… they may have some fears and insecurities or just feel sick from the change/s. This fear can manifest in a few ways... some may struggle to express themselves, be unable to focus, become withdrawn or irritable, suffer with headaches, migraines, nausea and so on.
I wish I'd paid more attention to my ‘well-being’ and what was causing my ups and downs. Or at least considered the impact my fun-filled lifestyle had on how I was feeling.
In my search for natural options to deal with hot flushes, erratic emotions, brain fog and just getting my head around ‘menopause’ I’ve learnt a lot. Managing the unwanted symptoms associated with our monthly cycle, and all things female, is neither daunting nor as elusive as I thought.
The big brands with their alluring glossy advertising give us a huge choice and make their products highly desirable however they are not telling us the full story. Lots of cosmetics, perfumes, beauty care products, moisturisers, sunscreens are made with additives, chemicals, fillers and synthetics (yuk!) which play havoc with our hormones.
Our hormones (produced from glands in our Endocrine system) regulate our development, mood, reproductive system and sexual function. Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. Hormones travel through the bloodstream to the tissues and organs, delivering messages that tell the organs what to do and when to do it. We need hormones for metabolism, appetite, heart rate, sleep cycles, body temperature, growth and stress levels.
There are many contributing factors to any ‘pain’... I’m no doctor but when you use your instinct, common sense and do a bit of research it becomes very apparent. Our mindset, exercise, diet (incl. the quality of what we consume) and the products we use daily significantly affect our hormones.
Even if you buy the most expensive products or spend a fortune on specialist appointments the bottom line is you’ll experience life based on what you put IN and ON your body regularly, daily and often. The cumulative effect of toxic habits and products will take its toll, causing dis-comfort or dis-ease in some form.
I’d love to help you support our girls… they are our future. I’d love to hear from you as we have a few options to boost their confidence, optimise their mind and body and manage any symptoms associated with ‘time of the month’. As a wellness advocate (coach) I draw on my experiences and knowledge to help advise how to manage their well-being, as well as your own.
Life is too short so lets give it our very best... and let’s rescue our beautiful young ladies together.

Through my experience I'm 100% clear natural is the best way forward. Mainstream products increase our toxic load and that is having a direct impact on our female cycles and how we feel. We can’t dismiss what’s causing emotional imbalance or upset.
I feel well, in sync and am bringing more joy to life. I want to help others feel the same.
The best way to start is by switching to natural sustainable products of the highest quality.
Also, don’t overlook what you’re spoiling our young ones with and what they use to look glamorous or use as their everyday toothpaste, deodorant, make-up and perfume! As they say, the devil is in the detail and popular big brands are not sharing all the details!
